February celebrates Black History Month, and while it’s essential to reflect on the overwhelming impact of African-Americans in our country’s history, let’s not forget the present. Faith’s Naturals Boutique blossomed in Boston with her primary location in Jamaica Plain, but has branched out to yet another now in Mattapan. Faith’s products are made, by her, with a little bit of craftsmanship and a lot of love. Come here to get your energy right for 2020!

Priding themselves on being the first progressive shelving wine store, where you categorize wines by their volume and not their region, Urban Grape has been a leader in the Boston wine & spirits game. Urban Grape believes in educating the masses not only on wine etiquette, but also the distinctions between types of wines, history, and pairings. Wine shopping can be very frustrating, but their team makes it easy with free wine tastings (every Thursday & Friday) and a plethora of knowledge on wines from all over the world. Bring a friend (or 4) down for a wine tasting in the South End and learn all the team has to offer!

I love the free weekend tastings. We usually leave with a purchase from the offerings. I love that the staff can make knowledgeable recommendations.
Transforming the way we think about veganism, Oasis Vegan Veggie Parlor makes amazing vegan carribean food. Started under the premise of putting healthy eats into the community to strengthen those without wholesome food options, Vegan Oasis has become much of what its namesake claims to be. Vegan or not, come by and try the red lentils and cabbage!
Brian J R had his fill: “The delicious rice bowl was large and enough for two people in my opinion. It was filled with brown rice, kale, cabbage, and a little spicy but not overwhelming. The mango smoothie was delicious also and had a little bit of turmeric to flavor.”
Started in 2017 with the notion of bridging the gap of wellness being a necessity and not a luxury, 4 Corners is the perfect place to go when you want peace and relaxation in Fields Corner. They offer a multitude of restorative services, such as reflexology, reiki healing, and hot stone massages, as well as (you guessed it) yoga! The yoga studio & yogis cater to people of all skill levels, and they encourage all goers on the importance of self-care. Be sure to swing by to get flexible and loosen up those knots – leave that stress in 2019!

A staple of Dorchester, Juice & Jazz Cafe will always bring you two things: good food and great music. Juice & Jazz gives its customers a feel like no other, with their live music days and book clubs they sponsor each month. The owners are involved in the community and consistently spread awareness to all music events in the city centered around jazz and the African diaspora. Stop in for a fresh smoothie and hearty bite, stay for the amazing art (locally sourced) and a great book to read!
Kim P takes flight: “Juice & Jazz does so many things well: iced coffee, juice, great customer service. I tend to get the coffee, but I’ve also had a juice flight: kid-sized juices off the menu for $2 each.”
